Sneaky acts...of kindness

Writer: Elke Siller MacartneyElke Siller Macartney

I fully admit to you: I am a sneaky woman. Yep. Busted.

Yet I also admit to confining the bulk of my sneakiness to guerilla acts of kindness--mostly random, spur of the moment affairs. For your inspiration, in case you want join my sneaky club:

Yesterday was "Get out of town and get creative Day." While ordering a sandwich at an awesome small town market, I overheard a conversation behind me and the words "confused" and "I'm in grief now." I quietly asked the cashier to create a tab for me, and told her I'll buy the desserts and coffee for those dear folks.

As I snuck away to a perch in a loft above the market, I saw them crying a little, saying "What? Who?" and looking around for the gift giver. I love being sneaky. * * * Yesterday's adventure continued: While walking in a gorgeous forested state park on the Skagit River, I came upon a nice "retirement aged" couple and their adult Down's son. They were enjoying themselves so much: eating berries, looking up for eagles--really loved each other's company. At the end of my walk, I left a small card that said "Thank you for you" on a car with a handicap decal on it--I correctly guessed it was theirs. (I usually have these Happiness Sprinkling Project cards in my purse just in case the urge to share a little happiness strikes.)

As I snuck off to my car and started to drive away, I looked in my rear-view mirror and noticed a very happy small family reading and smiling at the card. * * * More Happiness Sprinkling: At the local Costco, I heard someone crying in a bathroom stall, so I quietly slipped this onto the mirror before she got out:

There ya go. Come be part of the newly named Sneaky Acts of Kindness club! It all helps. It truly does.

blessings of kindness,

Elke
